Anyword Review: AI Platform Built for Content Marketing Teams

In this Anyword review, I walk you through all the major features the platform offers that content marketers can use to speed up the overall content process, discuss Anyword’s pricing, and the pros and cons.

But before we go into the review, here’s a short disclaimer about how I think the tool should and shouldn’t be used:

❗ Disclaimer: Don’t use Anyword to generate content (especially long-form content) that you plan to publish online. AI content marketing tools aren’t meant for that. Instead, use it in processes like – content ideation, research, optimization, and repurposing. Even if you use Anyword for content generation, it’s better to take that content as inspiration and rely on human content to create better results that rank and convert.

Anyword Overview: A Walkthrough

Anyword is an AI-powered platform designed to help content marketers create high-quality, engaging content efficiently. You can use to tool to:

  • Launch a product campaign
  • Brainstorm landing page ideas
  • Generate blog ideas and headlines

And do more.

The platform lets you comprehensively train itself on your brand voice and replicate the voice when generating any form of content.

One feature that really stands out for Anyword is its Target audience analyzer. The platform can analyze the content you generate or feed the tool and give you potential target audiences; the results are pretty accurate.

How I Use Anyword to Fasten the Content Creation Process

I tested all the features Anyword offers, and here are the top 5 I think might help content marketers:

  1. Setting brand voice
  2. Blog headline generator
  3. Blog ideas generator
  4. Content Improver
  5. Creating a welcome email drip campaign

Let’s discuss each of them in detail:

Feature 1. Setting Brand Voice

Anyword’s Brand Voice features help you gather all the key information of your brand identity, feed it to AI, and train it based on this information. The free plan lets you create 1 brand voice.

I liked how comprehensive Anyword’s Brand Voice feature is.

To create a Brand Voice, click the + icon that appears when you hover over the Brand Voice option from the left-side menu.

Give your Brand voice a name and click Create.

You will now see the created brand voice in the left side menu, just below the Brand Voice option. For every voice you create, you get 6 different ways to train the AI:

  • Custom models
  • Tone of voice
  • Target audience
  • Messaging bank
  • Brand rules
  • Formulas

In this section, I will discuss the first three sub-features (custom models, tone of voice, and target audience) in detail, as you, as content marketers, will mostly use them for training Anyword.

1. Custom Models

Custom models let you customize your content with a model trained on data from one of your integrations.

Here’s a guide on how to use the custom models option to train Anyword.

Step 1. Click the + Train Model button you see on the top right of the screen.

Step 2. Select the data you want to train the model on. My idea here is to train the AI based on my blog posts. So I selected the data option – ‘Blog posts and articles.’

Step 3. I named the model and inserted all the links to my published work on which I want the model to be trained.

Step 4. Anyword will take a few seconds to train the model. Once it’s done, it will display a confirmation message.

We will use this trained model later in the section to write LinkedIn posts and generate other content forms, but for now, let’s move on to the next brand voice feature.

2. Tone of Voice

With tone of voice, you can train the AI on how you want the tone of the content Anyword generates.

Step 1. To begin the process, go to the Tone of Voice option and click + Create New.

Step 2. You get three options to choose from:

  • Train a custom model (like we did before this)
  • Describe in your own words
  • Learn from examples

For this example, I will describe my tone of voice in my own words.

Step 3. Next, Name your voice, add a description, and click on Save.

3. Target Audiences

The target audience feature of Anyword is one of the most unique ones I’ve seen in a while. There are two use cases of this feature, the first one is to give Anyword your target audience and pain points.

But the second and more interesting one is to give Anyword a website or a PDF that it can analyze and tell you what the ideal target audience should be.

Let’s see the second use case in action:

Step 1. Go to Target Audiences and click on + Create new.

Step 2. Click ‘Get from example.’

Step 3. Enter the website you want Anyword to analyze and give you your target audience. For this example, I am giving Anyword, ClickUp’s website. Paste or type the link and click Next.

Step 4. Anyword gives you three target audiences to choose from. You can save or edit these target audiences further if you want.

👀 Note: This feature of Anyword is highly accurate and a good start to your target audience research. If you have a product similar to your competitor’s, analyze their target audience and see what Anyword gives you.

What I Think of the Feature?

Anyword’s Brand Voice feature is one of the most comprehensive ones in the market. It offers different ways to train your AI based on websites, manual content, PDFs, and more.

Feature 2. Using the Blog Headline Generator

The blog headline generator in Anyword lets you generate headlines based on the content you give it.

Follow these steps to use it:

Step 1. Go to Templates.

Step 2. Under the Blog section, click Blog Headline.

Step 3. Give Anyword an article to generate a headline for.

👀 Note: One limitation of this feature is that you can only input content of 4,800 characters or less. A long-form blog isn’t that small. One way to use it is to get subheadings for the sections in your blog. You can simply copy-paste a subsection of the blog and look at the results Anyword gives you.

After giving Anyword content, choose if you want to enforce brand rules or not. Click Generate when you’re ready.

The headline I wrote for this section was: “Who is a Fractional CTO and Why Are They on the Rise?” which I think is way better than the headlines Anyword gave me.

A smart move is to use Anyword’s headlines as a start and make them more detailed with your creativity and expertise.

What Do I Think of the Feature?

Anyword shouldn’t name this feature – Blog headline generator because it only lets you enter 4,800 characters (900 words). Proper long-form blogs are at least 2,000 words. The tool is good for brainstorming ad copy headlines or a short article headline but not a great one for generating long-form blog headlines.

Feature 3. Using the Blog Ideas Generator

As the name suggests, the blog ideas generator helps you brainstorm topics in specific categories.

Here’s how to leverage this tool of Anyword:

Step 1. Go to Templates > Blog > Blog Ideas.

Step 2. Select a blog post topic, set your tone of voice, and decide whether to enforce brand rules.

Step 3. Choose the number of ideas you want, select the language, and click Generate when ready.

Here are the ideas Anyword gave me for the topic: ‘Content marketing for small businesses.’

What Do I Think of the Feature?

I liked the blog ideas generator tool. From broad niches like finance to micro-niches like content marketing for small businesses, Anyword can generate decent blog ideas in any niche. Overall, it’s a good feature to brainstorm ideas for a topic and cover it from all angles.

Feature 4. Using Content Improver to Optimize LinkedIn Posts

Anyword’s content improver helps you enhance content quality with AI.

I was not sure how it could do a better editing job compared to a pro content marketer, so I decided to test it by giving it one of my old LinkedIn posts to edit.

Step 1. On the Anyword dashboard, click the ‘Content Improver’ card.

Step 2. In the Text to Improve box, paste the content you want to improve. In my case, it’s my old LinkedIn post.

Step 3. The Use algorithm drop-down helps you optimize posts for specific platforms like Meta, Google Ads, Email, LinkedIn, and more. If you plan to publish content on any one of these platforms, choose a relevant option from this drop-down so Anyword can optimize the content according to the platform’s algorithm.

👀 Note: The boost performance in the Use algorithm tab only works if your content is 200 words or less.

From the Formula drop-down, choose the way you want Anyword to improve your content – Creative, Simple to original, or add custom instructions.

And lastly, choose if you want to enforce brand rules or not.

Step 4. In this case, I just wanted 1 improved copy of my LinkedIn post, so I chose to generate 1 copy variation in English and clicked Generate.

Here’s the enhanced copy version:

What Do I Think of the Feature?

I felt that the changes Anyword made were more often unnecessary. For example, it replaced:

  • while with some time
  • list all your problems with create a list of all the issues
  • SaaS can solve with SaaS can address

In my opinion, these changes are personal preferences and not improvements.

Feature 5. Creating a Welcome Email Drip Campaign with Anyword

Anyword has a Welcome email drip campaign tool that uses AI to build a 4-step drip campaign for the product or service you sell.

Here’s the tool in action

Step 1. Go to Templates > Email > Welcome email drip campaign.

Step 2. Fill in all the details Anyword asks. These details include:

  • Brand name
  • Product details
  • Features to highlight
  • Offer
  • Customer testimonial
  • Target audience selection

I work with select clients in the B2B SaaS space as a content market, so I decided to test this feature to promote my services.

One great feature of Anyword is that when you give it all the information, the tool analyzes it and suggests potential target audiences.

Select the target audience you think is relevant. Click Next when you’re done.

Step 3. Review and edit all the prompts Anyword generates for each email in the sequence, and click Generate when you’re done reviewing.

Step 4. Review and edit all the emails thoroughly to hyper-personalize them with your expertise.

What Do I Think of the Feature?

The Welcome email drip campaign by Anyword is an amazing asset for brainstorming email ideas and seeing how to go from introducing your services to a prospect to converting them into leads.

The emails Anyword gave me were short and precise. However, I had to edit them heavily to make the languages more convincing, add additional information, and answer customer pain points.

All-in-all, the feature saves you brainstorming time and eliminates the time spent ideating the sequence.

Anyword Google Chrome Extension

The Anyword Chrome extensions let you do two things:

  • Generate short-form content
  • Improve existing content

From LinkedIn posts to Meta ads, Anyword’s Google Chrome extension can help you generate all kinds of content.

Here’s an interactive demo to understand things better:

How NOT to Use Anyword

Your primary motive for subscribing to Anyword should be to fasten the content creation process by using the tool to brainstorm ideas and save time on research.

With AI comes the temptation to generate lots of content and scale the content creation process to get traction fast. And yes, you will get quick initial traction, but it surely won’t be sustainable.

This is what happens when you generate 1000s of AI pages and publish online blindly:

Even when you create the first draft using Anyword and edit it thoroughly, I don’t think it can beat human-written content. So remember, AI content marketing tools are just to support your content marketing efforts and not replace them.

Anyword Pricing

Anyword offers a free trial of 7 days with a limit of 2,500 words. After this trial, you must select from the four paid plans it offers:

  • Starter: $49 per month
  • Data-Driven: $99 per month
  • Business: $499 per month
  • Enterprise: Custom pricing

What I Liked About Anyword?

Anyword comes with many mini-tools that use AI to support your content creation efforts.

Unlike many tools in the market, whose primary focus is to generate AI content for you, Anyword helps you with content improvements and brainstorming ideas for short and long-form content.

The platform also lets you integrate several accounts – HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Ads to pull data from it and analyze the performance.

What’s more, it also integrates with your social media accounts and suggests improvements to boost post performance.

What I Disliked About Anyword?

Anyword doesn’t have a free forever plan. It offers a 7-day free trial with a 2,500-word usage limit.

Although the word limit is enough to explore the platform before subscribing to a paid plan, it’s still limited in other aspects, like the boost performance feature, and doesn’t offer premium features like A/B testing, roles & permission management, etc.

Is Anyword Worth Investing in 2024?

Anyword has a unique set of features that support your content creation process instead of replacing it completely. The platform has mini-tools built around AI that help you with email campaign generation, content improvement, social media content creation and optimization, and more.

Overall, Anyword is a great tool for supporting your content creation process.

But I don’t think you should use a tool for other content operations like making your writing concise, generating long-form content, or changing the tone of your writing.

All these processes are meant to be done manually so the quality of your content doesn’t go from good to worse due to AI.
