I tested HeyGen with its free plan, and although the plan is limited, I was able to conclude that the paid plans of the software have a lot of potential for marketers trying to tap into AI video creation.

What is a general credit?

You can use general credits for any HeyGen product. 

1 general credit = 1 minute of video. 

These credits reset at the beginning of each billing cycle.

Depending on general credits, the Creator plan offers 3 sub-plans:

All the 3 sub-plans have the same exact features, just with varying general credits.

With the Creator plan, you can create videos up to 60 minutes long and export them in 720P or 1080P resolution.

You can choose whether you need 30, 60, or 90 credits. The pricing increases with the number of credits.

With the Team plan, you can create videos up to 60 minutes long and export them in 720P, 1080P, or 4K. The video creation process in the Team plan is also faster than in the Creator plan.

The major difference between the Creator and Team plan is the team collaboration features you get with the latter. You get features like:

Which HeyGen Pricing Plan Should I Choose?

To test the waters, you can try out HeyGen’s free plan, which gives you 1 general credit and some basic features. 

If you think HeyGen is the right fit for you and your business, you can opt for a Creator plan if you’re an individual creating AI videos or a Team plan if you want to onboard your team.

But one thing to remember is that the Team plan has several premium features that the Creator plan lacks.

If you’re a pro video creator and want advanced features, talk to HeyGen’s sales team to create a tailored Enterprise plan.

Does HeyGen Have a Free Plan?

Yes, HeyGen offers a free plan that gives you 1 general credit (lets you create a 1-minute video), access to the core platform, and a single-user workspace.

With the free plan, you can create and export videos in 720P, choose from 5 photo avatars, and get voice and video templates.

But in my opinion, the free plan is actually just to test the waters. There’s no way you can run your business with HeyGen’s free plan. You must eventually upgrade to one of its paid plans to get access to premium features and increase your general credit limit.

HeyGen Use Cases?

HeyGen has three major use cases:

• Product overviews
• Scaled outreach
• Learning and development

1. Product Overviews

You can use HeyGen to create product demos that showcase features and functionalities. The platform can also boost product awareness and usage by tailoring video content to different user segments.

The software has templates for making useful business-related videos like product overviews, promo videos, company weekly reports, business reports, and more.

To create a product overview with HeyGen, all you have to do is:

2. Scaled Outreach

You can use HeyGen to create videos and use them in your personalized outreach. Videos tend to work better and connect better with prospects than text.

HeyGen Competitors – Pricing Comparison

Apart from HeyGen, I also tested some of its competitors that were either cheaper or of the same price as HeyGen. From all the alternatives, here are the top 3 and their pricing comparison with HeyGen.

1. HeyGen vs Synthesia

To compare HeyGen and Syntehsia’s pricing, we will compare their yearly plans, which give you 360 minutes of video per year.

HeyGen offers 360 minutes in its Team plan, which costs you $120 per month ($1440 billed yearly), whereas Synthesia offers 360 minutes of video per year at $67 per month ($804 billed yearly). 

Synthesia lets you create videos for almost half the price of HeyGen if we talk about 360 minutes of video per year plan.

But one thing I noticed here was that HeyGen offers a couple of more premium features than Synthesia. So, if you want those premium features and are willing to pay more, HeyGen is your go-to AI video generation software.

Although, if you’re willing to compromise on those features, go with Synthesia. 

2. HeyGen vs D-ID

D-ID comes with a Pro plan that costs $29 per month to create up to 15 minutes of video, and HeyGen offers the same plan at the same price.

Both plans allow you to onboard your team members and collaborate in video creation.

But when I dug deep, I found that D-ID doesn’t let you remove the watermark from the videos you generate with the Pro plan, whereas HeyGen does.

Overall, if we look at the features of both plans, D-ID’s Pro plan and HeyGen’s Creator plan, HeyGen’s plan is better in terms of video template selection, security, and customer support.

3. HeyGen vs Elai

Elai offers a basic plan for $29 per month that lets you create videos worth 15 minutes per month. It comes with features like:

• Text-to-Video
• Interactivity
• 80+ Avatars
• API Access
• Access to 75+ languages and 400+ voices

And more.

When we compare this with HeyGen’s Creator plan, which lets you generate 15 minutes worth of videos per month, it offers the same price but lacks a couple of features that Elai offers at the same price.

Does HeyGen Have any Hidden Costs?

HeyGen’s pricing page comprehensively compares all its free and paid plans and explains the features included in each.

It doesn’t have any hidden cost, but a few things you must be aware of when selecting the plan are:

• The unused credits from last month or year will not be carried over to the next billing period.
• With the Creator plan, you only get 720P and 1080P export resolutions.
• If you need access to HeyGen’s API, you must opt for its Enterprise plan.
• Free and Creator plans are for solo users, whereas Team and Enterprise plans offer several collaboration features.

HeyGen has been in the market for a while now and is one of the most reliable AI video generation software. But not everyone on the planet might like the tool, right? 

If you find HeyGen expensive, there are several alternatives to explore that offer more or less the same features at the same or lesser costs.
