SEO AI Review: How Its On-page SEO Feature Helped Me Rank Higher in 2024

SEO.ai is an AI-powered SEO platform that combines the expertise of seasoned SEO veterans with a team of data scientists and developers.

The platform aims to provide the most advanced AI SEO tools and features to help you optimize websites for better search engine rankings.

In this SEO.ai review article, I will review all its major features and show you how each feature of the platform works, which ones are good, and which ones to stay away from.

But before we get started:

❗ Disclaimer: Don’t use SEO.ai to generate content (especially long-form content) that you plan to publish online. AI content marketing tools aren’t meant for that. Instead, use it in processes like – content ideation, research, optimization, and repurposing. Even if you use SEO.ai for content generation, it’s better to take that content as inspiration and rely on human content to create better results that rank and convert.

3 SEO.ai Features That Can Help You In Your Content Marketing Processes

There are three SEO.ai features that I tested when using the tool in my content operations:

  1. On-page SEO optimizer
  2. AI content generation tool
  3. Keyword research

Let’s get to know how each of these features works, one by one.

1. On-Page SEO

If you have a draft ready and need to optimize it for LSIs or improve the on-page SEO, SEO.ai can help.

Here’s how:

Step 1. From the left-hand side menu, click ‘Create new content.’

Step 2. I will talk about the AI-generated content feature later. For now, click on:

  • Open blank editor – if you want to copy and paste your content in SEO.ai’s editor.
  • Import from URL – if you want to directly import content from a published URL.

Step 3. I have selected the Import from URL option. I entered the URL and clicked ‘Import.’

Step 4. SEO.ai will now automatically identify the target keyword and preview the imported content. Check if everything’s right and click ‘Create.’

Step 5. SEO.ai will now analyze the content and generate an optimization report based on it. Let me give you a quick walkthrough of the report.

On the top right corner, you will see a percentage (or score) that SEO.ai gives your content based on competitor analysis. It also tells you the bare minimum score you need to achieve.

In my case, it’s 68%.

Below the score, you have 4 optimization options:

1. Title

The title optimization gives you a separate score for how optimized your title is. It decides the score based on:

  • Target keyword use
  • Use of keywords in close proximity
  • The initial part of the target keyword
  • Character count
  • Uniqueness vs competitor

SEO.ai also gives you optimized title ideas that you can use instead of the one you have given the blog already.

2. Content Length

The content length tab shows you the word count of the top ten ranking pages for your primary keyword and also shows you the word count of your content via a simple yet effective graph.

The graph tells you if you need to increase, decrease, or keep the word count as is. The green dotted line is the minimum word count you need for this article to rank higher.

Although word count doesn’t directly impact your search rankings, it’s a good practice to have an article of at least 1,500 words.

3. Meta Description

The meta description tab analyzes your meta description based on the target keyword included and character length. If you have used the target keyword in your meta description and it’s of character length 100-200, you’re good to go.

In case you need more meta description ideas or want to see your competitors’ meta descriptions, you can do that too.

4. Internal Linking

The internal linking feature of SEO.ai is still in beta. Its primary function is to give you internal link suggestions (provided you have given access to SEO.ai to analyze your website).

Below these 4 optimizations, you have a tab – Use these keywords more, where SEO.ai suggests relevant words and phrases to your primary keyword that you must use in your content.

I’d suggest not focusing on this tab unless there are a lot of suggested words and you haven’t used these words or phrases even ones in your blog.

If you find it hard to use these phrases in your content, you can ask SEO.ai to do it for you.

Let me explain how:

SEO.ai gave me a suggestion to use the phrase ‘value for money’ in my content.

To take SEO.ai’s suggestion on its usage, I clicked the keyword, and it gave me a bunch of suggestions on how to use the phrase in existing content.

What’s more, you can also ask it to generate a new paragraph relevant to the blog and use the phrase in the paragraph.

Similar to the above section, SEO.ai also gives you a list of semantic-rich keywords to use in the article.

You can also add keywords manually that you think are important and relevant to the topic.

At the bottom of the page, SEO.ai has a tools section with four functionalities:

1. Related questions: Gives you a list of FAQs to add at the end of your article. It also generates AI questions if you need more.

2. Competitor benchmark table: Gives you an overall summary of the top 10 ranking pages for the primary keywords. Includes metrics like:

  • Word count
  • External links
  • Title score
  • SEO score

3. External links: Gives you the list of all the outgoing links on your blog.

4. SERP visualizer: Shows you how your page will look on SERP.

Lastly, the report also has an AI assistant that helps you with things like:

  • Writing introductions
  • Instructing AI on what to do
  • Summarizing the blog
  • Writing features snippet

And much more.

2. AI Content Generation

Apart from on-page SEO, SEO.ai also lets you generate AI blogs. I’d recommend you stay away from this feature and only use the tool for on-page SEO and keyword research.

I tested this feature to see the quality of the content it generates. Here’s how it works:

Step 1. In the Create new content window, click ‘AI-generated draft’ and fill in the information that SEO.ai asks you:

  • Target keyword
  • Title (H1)
  • Additional context

Step 2. Next, you need to enable and disable some options related to AI-powered SEO and generation flow.

I suggest you keep all the four options enabled.

Click ‘Review Subheadings’ to go to the next step.

Step 3. SEO.ai will now generate an AI outline for you to review.

You can:

  • Edit the subheaders the platform gives you
  • Add extra headings
  • Regenerate the outline by clicking on Refresh outline

After finalizing the outline, click ‘Generate,’

Step 4. In a couple of minutes, SEO.ai will generate the article for you that you can start editing.

👀 Note: Even if you plan to use this AI-generated content, make sure to edit it thoroughly, add your expertise, and personalize it for your audience before posting it online.

3. Keyword Research

The keyword research tool of SEO.ai has four categories:

  1. AI keywords
  2. Matching terms
  3. Audience keywords
  4. Search volume

Let’s see how each of them works, one by one.

1. AI Keywords

To use this feature, enter the seed keyword in the text box.

To make the keyword research more comprehensive and detailed, you can use filters like:

  • Search intent: Commercial, informational, local, navigational, niche, transactional
  • Words per keyword: 1, 2, or 3
  • Exclude phrases, if any

Click Find keywords to see the related keywords.

SEO.ai will give you a list of keywords related to the primary keyword that you can add to your plan or create an article on directly.

2. Matching Terms

The matching terms tab gives you terms related to your seed keyword. You can filter the results based on difficulty, search volume, and exclude phrases.

Here’s the list I got for the seed keyword: content marketing with a maximum difficulty of 30 and at least 10 search volume.

3. Audience Keywords

This feature gives you keywords based on your seed keyword and the audience you’re targeting or the problem you’re trying to solve.

Output:

4. Search Volume

This feature is just like any other keyword research tool. You give SEO.ai a list of all keywords you want to search volume for, and the tool will do the rest.

Output:

SEO.ai Pricing

SEO.ai offers three paid plans. All these plans include every SEO.ai feature but have different limits for AI articles, content audits, the number of users you can onboard, and the websites you can connect to.

All three paid plans come with a 7-day free trial.

  • Basic: $49 per month
  • Plus: $99 per month
  • Premium: $199 per month

How NOT to Use SEO.ai

Your primary motive for subscribing to SEO.ai should be to use the tool for on-page SEO of your existing manually written content and to do keyword research.

With AI comes the temptation to generate lots of content and scale the content creation process to get traction fast. And yes, you will get quick initial traction, but it surely won’t be sustainable.

This is what happens when you generate 1000s of AI pages and publish online blindly:

Even when you create the first draft using SEO.ai and edit it thoroughly, I don’t think it can beat human-written content. So remember, AI content marketing tools are just to support your content marketing efforts and not replace them.

What Did I Like About SEO.ai?

Here are the 2 advantages I feel you get with SEO.ai:

1. SEO.ai is Led by a Team of SEO Experts

The team’s extensive experience in SEO ensures that the AI platform is informed by the latest best practices and trends in the field, resulting in high-quality content that is optimized for search engines.

2. Customization

SEO.ai’s AI platform can be tailored to meet the specific needs of clients, allowing for the creation of content that is tailored to their unique brand voice, tone, and style.

What I Didn’t Like About SEO.ai?

Here’s one major drawback to be aware of when creating content with SEO.ai:

1. Plagiarism Risk

SEO.ai’s AI content generation is based on existing data, which increases the risk of plagiarism. This can lead to copyright complications and potentially even search engine penalties.

Is SEO.ai Worth Investing in 2024

SEO.ai is a content marketing software that helps you do comprehensive on-page SEO, plan your content, and do keyword research based on your seed keyword and target audience.

Overall, SEO.ai is a great tool for supporting your content creation process.

However, my suggestion is to stay away from AI content marketing tools when it comes to creating long-form content; instead, use them to enhance your human-written content.

To churn out high-quality, long-form blogs, you need an expert human writer.

AI isn’t the right solution for content generation.
